Day 3 16th Sept
Tres exciting, cutting edge eclectic experience is how I'd describe Korean design team SteveJ & YoniP spring summer 09 collection. They took inspiration from contemporary arts, Danish painter Asger Jorn, architecture, dance, theatre and romance. Favorite moment was the surprise ballet interlude which both confused and surprised some of us. I was about to press the stop button when the pirouetting bridal ballerinas on pointes made an entrance. Assisted by assistants ! the girls performed a bridal veiling routine on top of 3ft pedestal platforms.
Dare I type it.. S/S 09 is like Vikor & Rolf revisited, everyone's at it ! If you've been to seen The House of Viktor & Rolf you'll remember the couture on pedestal catwalk presentation and children chanting "Viktor & Rolf" (If you haven't seen it .. it finishes on the 21st), SteveJ & YoniP also have a child chanting their name. Back to the show I'm always on the lookout for origamic or retro pleats so was happy to see SteveJ & YoniP had worked in elements of both. Also look out for a beautiful silver mesh and a jewelled blue colour combination black, a very hot orange, balloon pom poms, western military styled caps, and more black.
I'm noticing a fair bit of advant garde head wear, if Ebon Heath was a milliner he might do an alphabet piece like Steve & Yoni's. Did you spot Diane Pernet sat in the front row (wearing all black literally from head to toe) opposite actress Margo Stilley ? I'm wondering whether the model in black with the veiled hoodwear, high hair and black glasses was inspired by the mother of the all black brigade? Just after I snuck in and recorded actress Margo Stilley chatting to T5M.FM (Princes Trust T) Blow PR found me 2 minutes to do a quick interview with the dynamic duo ..! All in all a great collection, a great show and a great couple!
