A few snow storm evenings back I popped out to a small surprise party and had a few unexpected surprises. One of the nicer surprises was catching up with London College of Fashion alumni, freelance fashion designer, musician, poet and creative collaborator Richard Mkoloma. I first met Richard 8, 9, 10 years ago maybe?? at a music / poetry event. Rich Blk is one of those multi-talented guys. You know the jammy so and so type, that makes you feel totally inadequate when ever you get to comparing notes!
Tall, dark and handsome, funny! writes and performs poetry and pretty much does everything ridiculously well (ladies when I last saw him he was still single!). We've bumped into each randomly over the years and usually have just enough time to spend a couple of minutes catching up on his latest project. Anything from studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, working with Paul Smith, Sean John, Michiko Koshino, vintage Fila.
It was good to spend a couple of hours catching up over a Thai curry, he filled in the gaps since I saw him last. He's been busy as one might expect, he's now working under the creative direction of the innovative designer, Hussein Chalayan. Rich is part of the team designing menswear for Puma's Urban Mobility line and he's also is pushing he cart out on Puma's S/S 10 Golf line. He's a real talent, we thought it would nice to showcase him a little.
With the sporty urban type in mind look the Mobility Line S/S 2010 collection "explores the notion of 'Mobile Life' in modern cities, bridging fashion and performance by designing products that offer true solutions to stylish travel through the urban environment". Creative Direction by Hussein Chalayan, photography by Ben Weller and styling by Jodie Barnes.
