Vanitas Vanitatum Omnia Vanitas : )

Vanity, vanity, all is vanity "Vanitas Vanitatum Omnia Vanitas" concludes artist Alan Kanes residency at the London College of Fashion. Kane's approach to use's examples of 'everyday creativity in his production' of his artwork. His series of photographs of sew-on patches normally seen on denim, biker jackets and rucksacks any where there's a hole that needs covering or as Kane's says what the wild thing non-conformists wear.

These stitched tokens of defiance are spotlighted in a number of ‘pop’ still lives. The skull motif is a common vanitas symbols often seen in European 16th and 17th-century vanitas paintings or funeray art. The patches are scaled up by 668% amplifying both their epic and pathetic aspects.
