In the prelude to Fashion Week, global shopping centres in cosmopolitan city centres are humming with events skilfully crafted to get us in the mood to shop. Its no mystery why they're timed so close to the big four Fashion Weeks. I missed FNO London last year but this year I was ready! And for the doubting Thomas', when it comes to putting retail on the map the second Fashion's Night Out was a resounding success.
Style Canteens designer crawl took in Old Bond Street with Freak Deluxe. Following a loose FNO but impossible to do it all itinerary! We started at Nicole Farhi, moving on to Louis Vuitton, Burberry, the stoop outside Hermes and caught Vivienne Westwood just in time for closing. We were the camera welding bloggers wearing 5' heels undeterred by the Louis Vuittons Head of Security no camera policy. Shopping till 11pm in that part of town is a novelty for most so the queues and paprazzi flashing all night outside stores like Armani gave the sedate Old Bond Street district a much needed tangible buzz. Celebrity gawking was pull enough to satisfy an exciting Fashion Night Out. And as a gizmo to persuade fashionista's to part with their plastic it hardly mattered whether the glam and discounts translated into ROI (Return on Investment)... or sales.
We hung out, people watched, bumped into friends, posed for picture keepsakes, chatted with Ozwald Boateng (who is very, incredibly handsome) and in the spirit of the evening had a really good Fashion Night Out. I've split my Fashion Night Out in two.. Part One is Louis Vuitton FNO , Part Two is FNO everything else!
