Advertising is not dead, at least not in this industry. We still believe they're a very relevant message spreader. In complete contrast and for very different reasons we've noticed the new Spring / Summer 2011 men and women campaigns from Y-3 and Donna Karan. As you know we're smitten with Y-3 because Yohji's aesthetic fits like a glove with our own ideas of adding confidence and attitude through ones wardrobe. Black, white + greys, a moody vibe, sitting high and proud, comfortably on the edge. In other words we see an influencer.
And DKNY, because we keep one eye on the other and we have an ongoing love association with some but not all bright's. Personally I'm all over this 3Cs palette especially in February in London, its like a breath of much needed colour. The whole campaign isn't 3C cerulean, crimson and cerise, it's signature DKNY. The campaign shot in down town Manhatten, NY in a city akin to our shades of grey London. Even on an out of focus Jasmine Tooke the colour in this relaxed, loose tailored collection pop, pop, pops. On the flipside, in the words of Yohji' "i’m a rocker at heart", the second DKNY image with the short skirt length, I'm sharing not because I'll be showing off my legs or knees this spring but because I have a fixation with scarves, flowers, frou-frou and frilly bits.
